  • 6/26/08 -- KCVOAD Agenda (for the 7/10/08 meeting) and minutes from the January meeting have been added to the KCVOAD page (in the Partner tab at left).
  • 3/25/08 -- A link to the publication Caring Conversations was added on the Planning page. This document helps you to pass along your wishes to loved ones.
  • 2/25/08 -- a one-page checklist titled Preparing Your Family For An Emergency has been added to the Planning section.
  • 2/13/08 -- a 32-page guide to Family Preparedness has been added on the Planning page (tab at left).
  • 2/7/08 -- A link to an on-line version of Robert's Rules of Order was added to the Library page (see tab at left).
  • 1/18/08 -- The current weather advisory has been added as a link in the center of the "Current Events" page.
  • 1/17/08 -- Intelligence Coordinator Paul Edwards has resigned his duties with the OEM to accept the office of Undersheriff for Van Buren County.
  • 1/17/08 -- The Current Events page has been reactivated. This page will contain up-to-date information during local events/emergencies.
  • 1/9/08 -- Kalamazoo River water level link was relocated to the Home Page; and the menu for the "Current Events" page has been deleted (eliminating the need to drill-down to an additional layer).
  • 1/7/08 -- Kalamazoo River water levels -- a link to the National Weather Service's data has been added to the "Current Events" page (tab at left).
  • 1/3/08 -- The Emergency Management Division has implemented a new automated electronic Emergency Alert System (EAS) -- Watch for additional details to be posted here.
  • 11/21/07 -- 25 new links, in two categories (Kids Sites; Local Emergency Management Sites) added to the Library.
  • 11/21/07 -- "Synergy" tab at left was renamed "Partners" -- to better reflect the cooperation of agencies that are the "meat & potatoes" of Emergency Management within Kalamazoo  County.
  • 10/19/07 -- Kalamazoo Street Guide added; Michigan Winter Hazards Awareness 2007-2008 added. Find both in the Library.
  • 10/11/07 -- Minutes to the KCVOAD meeting of 9/26 were added. See the Synergy tab at left for the KCVOAD page, or click here for just the Minutes.
  • 10/10/07 -- Added links to all of the State Emergency Management Programs -- see the Library tab at left.
  • 9/25/07 -- A place to describe the ongoing activities of groups who work within the County for the purpose of Planning, Mitigation, Response, and/or Recovery. See the "Synergy" tab at left or simply click here to be directed to that page (which is in very early stages of development).
  • 9/18/07 -- Facility Site Plans -- we're updating our library of site plans for special facilities such as Schools and Nursing Homes. See the "Planning" tab at left for additional details; or simply click here.

  • 8/27/07 -- Michigan Maps added to Library.
  • 8/24/07 -- A hot-line for current storm information has been designated: 269-385-6179.
  • 8/14/07 -- The GLBRG invited the Kalamazoo County Office of Emergency Management to conduct a 75-minute presentation on the topic of BCP/DR for small businesses - How to get started and how to get the help working with County Government. Click Here for the presentation; and check the "Planning" tab at left for the documents covered in that presentation.
  • 6/29/07 -- When does the National Weather Service issue a "Heat Advisory"? An "Excessive Heat or Freeze Warning"? Check out the Current Events page from the tab at left.
  • 6/28/07 -- Citizen Guidance on the Homeland Security Advisory (Yellow, Orange, Red, ect) System added to the Current Events page.
  • 5/21/07 -- Kalamazoo County is awaiting final approval on it's application to be declared a StormReady Community. Click on this link for details of what this means to you! 
  • 5/21/07 -- Added content to the Library (at left). Check out links to the Kalamazoo County's homepage, the White House, FEMA, and the Michigan State Police Emergency Management division. Added links to on-line self-study training from the Emergency Management Institute -- see the Training & Exercises link at left. Added pictures to the Mobile Command Center vehicle -- see the Home page for those!
  • 5/15/07 -- Heavy storms hit Kalamazoo County. Emergency Management dispatched the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services (RACES) to document the damage. See the "Current Events" tab at left for TV-17's coverage!
  • 5/3/07 -- 32,918 pages have been served (displayed to viewers) by this web as of 5/3/07
  • 4/20/07 -- Added the Site Emergency Planning Workbook to the "Planning" tab at left in preparation for the 4/26/07 Business Summit. 
  • 4/3/07 -- Updated to increase speed of downloading.
  • 12/04/06 -- Video Status Updates are now available on this web during rapidly-changing emergency situations. The first was posted (and subsequently removed) for the 12/1/06 weather advisory. Updates will be shown only during situations where many rapid updates will benefit local residents/visitors -- as well as to inform interested parties (i.e.: family members) who may not have access to local (e.g.: TV/Radio) updates.
  • 11/27/06 -- Tom Miller returns to the Office of Emergency Management as a Solution Area Planner -- Tom has previously worked for this office on several projects, including the recent completion of the Hazardous Materials Site Emergency Plans. 
  • 11/13/06 -- FEMA approves the Kalamazoo County Hazard Mitigation Plan and includes the following communities: City of Portage; the Village of Richland; Townships of Alamo, Brady, Charleston, Comstock, Cooper, Oshtemo, Prairie Ronde, Richland, Ross Schoolcraft, and Texas.
  • 11/8/06 -- A 2006-2007 Michigan Winter Hazards Awareness Guide has been added to the Planning section (select from the tab at left).
  • 10/19/06 -- New sections (Tabs at Left) for Planning / Preparedness and for Mitigation were added. Check these areas for topic-specific information that will be added periodically.
  • 10/10/06 -- Kalamazoo County is 4-Award Winner at Michigan Emergency Management 2006 Awards Banquet.
  • 8/2/06 -- OEM Advisory #8-2 -- Four Cooling Sites to open in Kalamazoo metro area for Wednesday 8/2/06 -- Sites and map/directions to them were posted to the home page at 10:42 AM
  • 8/1/06 -- Heat Advisory -- OEM Advisory #8-1 -- Effective August 1 through August 3, 2006 -- Public Safety Personnel are closely monitoring the effects of current high temperatures on community services of interest to Kalamazoo's residents and visitors. All normal Community Services are on a stand-by and ready status to provide emergency services, such as cooling shelters and transportation, should those services become necessary. The normal method for obtaining emergency heat-related assistance is by calling 9-1-1.
